The Newsletter/Peek printed newsletter development and distribution was overcome by the installation of the Web Site,
and therefore the FWD BOD eliminated the effort Mid-Winter 2007. The following is a proposal and plan to revive
the newsletter using more modernized technical capabilities.
1.1.1.1 Mission/Objective:
To improve quality and regularity of contact with FWD Patrollers and Alumni by reaching out with E-newsletters and
twice-yearly Patroller Peek full newsletters (and, a twice-yearly printed version for those several hundred
FWD Patrollers/Alums with no email). The two primary methods, both of which interconnect with the FWD website,
would be the following:
Design and implement a Constant Contact E-newsletter, which could be used on a monthly basis, as needed. Constant Contact
is the technology that is currently being used by the National office to publish and present the new Final Sweep monthly
E-letter. This E-letter would target 1,800 FWD Patrollers and ~200 Alumni by email on a regular, quality-format basis
(and also takes them, for additional detail, to the FWD website.
Twice yearly, full newsletters: the Division would do an "opening season" newsletter (in both PDF format
for posting on the FWD web site, and a mailed version to those 200 or so Patrollers without an E-address) and a
mid-season newsletter. At the MLR level, we send out a "Go Get It" email to about 450 MLR members and alums (which
comes at no cost and in "full color", and a US mail version, about 70 hard copies (black and white), to those without email.
Suggested is similar treatment for the FWD: 1,800 members reached via email notice and 200 more reached by the US mail version.

Expense to print, twice annually, full newsletter for mailing to approx. 200 members without email
(printed in black and white) - $320.
Expense for mailing, twice annually, to 200 members without email (first-class postage) - $176.
Total annual expense $748.
Income projections: While hard to forecast, the increase in both quality and frequency of contact with
FWD members would yield additional income from enhanced attendance and Division events, conferences and educational programs.
