Continuing the Tri-Advisory tradition of Tri-Advisory for its 38th year since 1978 Tri-Advisory will be November 5th and 6th this year at the venue that has become overwhelmingly popular by its participants. It’s location in Yosemite Valley at a secluded camp site reserved just for those attending Tri-Advisory.
Sponsored by the Nordic, Avalanche, and MTR (Mountain Travel & Rescue) programs Tri-Advisory refreshes by hands-on clinics in the outdoors. Clinics and skills in ropes, GPS-maps & compass avalanche beacon and other topics are presented. With so many patrollers of like mind from round the Far West Division gathering a wealth of knowledge is shared amongst all.
Tri-Advisory will also be a registered NSP ICE course for the Avalanche and MTR instructors.
Scheduled to present this year is Garmin with the satellite two-way communication +GPS inReachExplorer, and ShiftPOD, a new thermal base camp tent will be on display and presented, as well as a new avalanche presentation. More will be scheduled soon!
Celebrating 38 Years 1978 – 2016
What started out 38 years ago by a handful of like-minded patrollers wanting to tap into each other's collective knowledge, the Tri-Advisory has grown to become a "not-to-miss", key educational conference within the Far West Division of National Ski Patrol.
Yeah-but I am an Alpine patroller ...if you're a patroller interested in the backcountry, wanting to gain new skills but you're unsure where to begin, the Tri-Advisory is a great place to start! First, you'll meet and get to know the key instructors from your region who will mentor you locally ... OK! Next, you'll hear from people who have "been-there, done-that", sharing their experiences and opinions, giving you insight and information on needed knowledge, training, and skills. Oh-yeah ... You need to be here!
This site proved to be an exceptional venue for the hands-on clinics of avalanche beacon usage, GPS and map & compass navigation work, as well as other topics for the back-country enthusiast. After a big pot-luck style dinner arranged by Larry & Millisa Cody of Mt Pinos Nordic Area everyone tent camping will be treated to a very quiet night away from the general camp grounds.
The Pot-Luck dinner that Larry & Millisa Cody arrange has certainly become a must not miss event!
Bring your family and friends. What a great getaway! Spectacular views and short hikes await everyone. This is all in addition to the Tri-Advisory agenda--not to mention Saturday evening's dinner and entertainment
Make your plans now! Get the registration form from www.farwest.org with more details and up-dated information! Complete the form and mail to the address on the form with your registration check.
Tent camping is the only camping allowed at the group camp site by the Park Service, and space is limited.
